Is being a Cookbowl shop artist worthy? Here’s why Liberians doesn’t see the rich side of the industry
The complaints about music income and how entertainers rarely generate revenue have been a long standing problem to figure out but following the same pattern than raises the question “Why Exactly?”.
Like the mistakes lots of our former top Footballers made, seeing the sport as something to enjoy at the moment rather than building a life after football, is the same our entertainers continue to make. Maybe it’s just a Liberian thing.
But here’s the reality, there’s lot of money in entertainment but our artists and others continue to go down the road of the last generation instead of innovating like their others international counterparts.
Many, more than 60% focus solely on shows performance and audiomack streams that basically doesn’t keep up with the lifestyle of an artist. Why it is true that streaming numbers generate huge revenue but does Audiomack help the situation? No, and that’s why more focus should be placed on key priorities.
Music is an art, but it’s also a business. Without contracts, branding, marketing, or negotiation skills, you get exploited why fans enjoy without giving back anything in return. Others doesn’t even know who their fans are and how to get revenue from merchandise and other mechanism.
Forget the trends, it fails but true artistry stays and will pay in royalties till forever. The money is always in entertainment but an entertainer will only gain access if they aren’t like Cookbowl shop musicians.
